# The game page

Everything on a game's page, the game menu, and tags, collections, finished and hidden.

Press **A** on any game to open its page. **B** takes you back to the same card.

![A game's page](https://3008865259-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FiaV8VKDYJngjWWkPZx0Q%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-b5819b55bac6c963e1ad4066129736f903a5e635%2Fgame-page.png?alt=media)

At the top: the game's cover and logo over its art, its system, when you last played and how many times. Below that are **Play**, the **favorite** star and **…** (**More**).

## The controller for this game

Some games expect the controller to be held a certain way: a remote held upright or sideways, a remote with an attachment, or a classic pad. When the game's emulator profile describes those ways, a **Controller** chip sits above **Play**, with a picture and the one in use, for example **Controller · Remote with attachment**.

Press **A** on the chip (or click it) to choose. The sheet **Controller for \<game>** says *How this game expects the controller to be held. It applies when the game starts.* Each choice shows what it needs, for example **Needs motion · pointing · a second piece**, or **Nothing extra**, and the one in use is marked **In use**.

![Choosing the controller for one game](https://3008865259-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FiaV8VKDYJngjWWkPZx0Q%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-60e7d228e6a6f55f6593e80e7759320b8743415c%2Fcontroller-type-picker.png?alt=media)

After you pick one yourself, **Use the game's default (…)** or **Use the emulator's setting (…)** undoes your choice. The same choice is in the game's **Options** tab, under **Controls**, and, while the game runs, in the Quick Menu's [Controller tools](/playing/quick-menu.md#controller-tools).

The emulator profile sets it up in the emulator; there's nothing to change there yourself. Only emulators whose profile offers this show the chip.

### Details

* **Description and information:** developer, publisher, release date, genre, number of players and rating. A long description has **More** / **Less**. Kouch reads all of this from a `gamelist.xml` beside your games, if you have one.
* **Tags:** the game's tags, or **None yet · edit**. Choose it to edit them.
* **File:** first the file's own name, and under it, in small print, where the name Kouch shows came from (see [Game names](/library/library.md#game-names)). Then **System**, **Times played**, **Last played**, **File** (**Found** or **Missing**), and the file's **File checksum** and **SHA-1**, worked out the first time you open the tab. They're handy for checking you and a friend have the same copy.
* **Remove from library** (a red button; hold **A**). It takes the game off Kouch's list. **It never deletes the file.** A rescan finds it again unless you move it out of your game folders.

## The game menu

Every game has a menu. Open it with **Start** (the pause button) on any game card, in Home, Grid A–Z, Shelf, the Playtime lists or a collection, or anywhere on its game page. **Holding X** on a card or choosing **…** on the page opens it too. A quick press of **X** still just favorites; the prompt says **Favorite · hold: More**.

The tags sheet shows the tags **from its info**, filled in with the art (hide one if it's wrong), **your tags** (**Add a tag** to type one), and **in these collections**, with why the game is in each. See [Tags and collections](/library/library/collections.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.kouch.dev/playing/game-page.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
