# Downloads

The download queue where emulator installs and updates run, one at a time.

Emulator installs and updates run in **one queue**, one at a time. Open it from **Start › Downloads**, from the download indicator in the top bar while something is downloading, or from the **Downloading** row on Home.

Each download shows its name and where it's up to:

1. **Queued:** waiting for the one before it.
2. **Checking source…:** finding the right file in the emulator's official releases.
3. **Downloading:** with a progress bar.
4. **Verifying checksum…:** making sure the file is exactly the one the source published. A file that doesn't match is refused.
5. **Unpacking…**
6. **Installed**, with the version. Or **Failed**, with the reason.

Press **A** on **Dismiss** to clear a finished or failed download from the list.

When nothing's downloading, the screen says **Nothing is downloading. Emulator installs and updates show up here.**

Kouch downloads **emulators only**, from the source named in their profile. It never downloads games, BIOS, firmware or keys.

## If a download fails

The profile stays imported. Once the problem is fixed (you're back online, say), go to **Settings › Emulators**, open the emulator's **Versions & updates** and install the version again.
