# Point with motion

Move a cursor around Kouch by turning and tilting a controller, one cursor per player.

Controllers with motion sensors can point at Kouch's screens like a remote: turn and tilt the controller to move a cursor, and press **A** to choose. Every player gets **their own cursor**: a hand in their colour, with their number.

## Turn it on

1. Open **Settings › Controllers › Point with motion**.
2. Turn on **Point at the screen by moving a controller**.
3. Set **Pointer speed** (0.25× to 3×, default 1×) to taste.
4. **R3 turns a player's pointer off and on** (on by default) lets each player switch their own cursor with **R3** (pressing the right stick in). Kouch says, for example, **Player 2's pointer is off. R3 turns it back on.**

## Using it

* **Move:** turn the controller left and right, and tilt it up and down. What's under your cursor is highlighted.
* **Choose:** press **A**.
* **Recentre:** hold the controller still for a moment. The cursor hides and starts again from the middle when you move.
* Using the d-pad or the stick hides your cursor, so you can switch between pointing and the d-pad at any time.

The cursor only picks things that are fully on screen. It never scrolls the page by itself.

{% hint style="info" %}
Pointing works in Kouch's own menus and in the Quick Menu. In a game, motion goes to the game as usual, and R3 is the game's.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.kouch.dev/controllers/pointer.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
